The McGee Band is performing this coming Friday night at Saint Brigid's (310 Cumberland St.) in conjunction with the Canadian Association for Irish Studies conference being held this week at the University of Ottawa (see previous blog post).
I last saw this performance in Almonte in 2011, and it was an absolutely outstanding concert and oral performance. The Delivery is key to a great performance. The interplay between the orator (Dr. David Wilson) and The McGee Band was timed to perfection. The mood is set by a joint effort of the oration and the music which transports the listener to the time and place of Thomas D'Arcy McGee.
Never was Irish Canadian history more fun on a Friday night!
Do not miss this musical, literary, thriller.
Tickets are available here. Go get' em.
ps - I hear James Stephens will be in his usual spot in the band as well, just in from the other side of the world.
