FIDDLER'S FRIENDS CONCERT
Interested in good old time Ottawa Valley traditional fiddle and dance? Join the Fiddler's Friends benefit concert at Almonte Old Town Hall on Sunday May 1.

Proceeds from this event support the Community Foundation of Ottawa's Danny O'Connell Memorial Fund established in 2004 and will feature recent recipients of the cash award as well as friends, colleagues and supporters of Ottawa Valley traditional music.

The fund was initiated in Danny's name to provide encouragement and financial help to traditional Ottawa Valley under 25 fiddlers. Recipients are nominated by three respected organizations with long-term records of interest in the musical tradition – The Renfrew County Fiddlers, The Irish Society of the National Capital Region, and the Ottawa Traditional Fiddling and Folk Art Society. Each society presents a representative from its current crop of upcoming young talent annually. In this way the fund helps to shine the spotlight on many more young musicians than the deserving winners of the annual award.

The award is produced from capital generated by donations from the O'Connell family and friends of traditional music, is owned by the CFO and administered by them to ensure that the award will continue in perpetuity.

A partial list of performers at this musical treat includes Kyle Felhaver, Terri-Lynn Mahusky, Matt Pepin, the Barley Shakers, Monday Night Fiddlers, and Celtic Guitar guest performer Ernie Fraser.

Highlighting the afternoon are performances by award recipients Joe Gervais, Amy Felhaber, Elly Wedge, Ellen Daly, and Tessa Bangs.

All performers are donating their talent to support Valley traditional music. If you are a fan you are sure to enjoy this concert. If the genre is new to you come out for a spirited introduction to a lively and energetic presentation by highly talented youngsters and accomplished vintage performers.

Musical friends, enthusiastic and talented performers, a festive family atmosphere, great libation and gastronomic offerings by Foodies Fine Foods – Perfect!

Tickets are $15.00 and available at Mississippi Mills Musicworks, Couples Corner and at the door. Advance sales available by telephone at Mill Street Books 613 256 9090. Information at 613 256 3786.
